Casino Crime News Roundup: Cleveland Casino Ex-Poker Dealer Charged
A poker dealer at JACK Cleveland Casino was reportedly dismissed and subsequently arrested for allegedly stealing multiple times from the gaming table at the Ohio casino.
Jason Saliba, 51, from North Olmsted, Ohio, faced 14 charges for breaching casino gaming regulations. He was additionally accused of stealing.
He was present last week in the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court, as reported by Cleveland.com, a local news outlet.
A casino patron who remained anonymous alerted a manager on September 6 that Saliba was misappropriating chips from players' bets, as reported by Cleveland.com.
Casino officials examined surveillance footage, and Saliba was terminated from the casino on September 7.
Authorities reported that numerous thefts took place within a single month. It seems that the overall sum taken was under $1,000.
Previous Cheating
In a separate event, a patron at the same casino, Ellis Quinn, 62, from Memphis, Tennessee, was taken into custody for allegedly cheating while playing craps in July, as reported by Cleveland.com. According to officials, he won $5,080 while engaging in cheating.
He supposedly made extra wagers on the winning number after the dice had been cast.
Officials observed him break the law while being recorded on surveillance cameras in the casino.
In the past, Quinn was found guilty of cheating in multiple casinos. Quinn was prohibited from casinos in Ohio and Pennsylvania, and received a sentence following his conviction.
Robbery Occurs at Hard Rock Lot Site
A theft occurred in the parking lot of Hard Rock Casino Rockford in Illinois on Thursday.
A woman whose name is not disclosed had her handbag taken. Inside, there was an unclear sum of money.
The suspect escaped from the location, as reported by Illinois TV station WTVO. The victim sustained no injuries.
Fugitive on the Run
Local authorities persisted in their hunt for the suspect late this week. Officers will probably examine surveillance footage from the casino to assist in identifying the suspect.
