During her legendary college career, WNBA player Caitlin Clark rarely had to deal with injuries. However, in the professional ranks, this is beginning to change, as soft tissue injury problems appear to be making her problems worse. She will miss today's all-star game (8:30 p.m. EST, ABC) due to a right groin injury.

Tonight's WNBA All-Star Game

Future wagers on Clark and her team, the Indiana Fever, are being impacted by her persistent injury problems.

Both tonight's game and last night's 3-Point Contest were intended to serve as a showcase for Clark, the captain of one of the all-star teams, as well as the league, which has benefited greatly from increased attendance, ratings, and general interest since Clark joined.

For the all-star game, the second-year guard received the most votes (1,293,536). Last night, Sabrina Ionescu of the New York Liberty won the 3-point contest with 30 points in the final round. 

All-star game ticket prices fell as soon as it was announced last week that Clark would not be playing tonight. 

Clark's Injuries Affect Gambling

Clark has missed 11 games due to new injuries this season, including a left quad strain and a left groin injury. 

At 12-11, the Fever are four games behind the New York Liberty in first place in the Eastern Conference.

Bettors are avoiding Fever futures because to the Clark injury scenario.

The Fever went from +475 to +550, then on July 13 to +650, where they are currently, according to ESPN Bet.

Splits in the overall Championship Winner market are as follows: Fever at 27.9% of bets, 43.7% of handle; Lynx at 19.3% of bets, 21.2% of handle; Liberty at 25.6% of bets, 14.2% of handle; Mercury at 6.9% of bets, 8.2% of handle; and Aces at 6.5% of bets, 4.8% of handle.

Clark's MVP wagers

John Ewing of BetMGM claims that the MVP market is where you can truly observe how Clark's injuries affect betting lines: She was +2000 on Tuesday, +6600 today, and +650 last week.

“Last week, the Fever were +550 to win WNBA title, they were +650 on Tuesday and remain at +650 to win title,” Ewing said.

"The Fever are still our most-bet team to win the Finals with 58% handle," a DraftKings representative stated. However, this is less than the 83% handle on opening night.

Hard Rock Bet examined its betting data to determine Clark's level of market influence and how her absence from the court affects betting patterns.

According to Neil Walsh, Hard Rock Bet’s SVP of Sportsbook “Caitlin Clark is a difference maker. We had hoped to see unprecedented interest in the WNBA All-Star Game this weekend, but with her absence, we’re now forecasting approximately a 40% reduction in handle. She’s a star, and her impact on wagering activity can’t be questioned.”

The money line for tonight's all-star game is Team Collier -184 and Team Clark +154 at FanDuel. With Team Collier at -4.5 (-118) and Team Clark at +4.5 (-104), the O/U is 258.5 (-110).
